Day 3 of the Men’s Singles Round of 32 at the WTT Europe Smash 2025 in Malmö, Sweden witnessed one of the biggest shocks of the tournament so far.

Belgium’s Adrien Rassenfosse played fearless table tennis to eliminate world no.4 Liang Jingkun in straight games in Sweden. Top seed Lin Shidong cruised past Omar Assar, while veterans Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Simon Gauzy also booked their spots in the Round of 16.

The Rassenfosse Shockwave

The standout moment of the round of 32 came when Adrien Rassenfosse played one of his best against China’s Liang Jingkun, one of the top speed of the tournament.

Rassenfosse’s down the line backhand, sharp serves & aggressive topspins stunned the Chinese star, who struggled to find rhythm. The Belgian saved game points in the second set before sealing it 12–10, and closed the match in emphatic fashion 3–0.

This victory marks the biggest career win for the 22-year-old, who advances to the Round of 16 with huge momentum.

With Rassenfosse’s upset and Lin Shidong’s dominance, the Men’s Singles draw is heating up. The remaining matches of Round of 32 will conclude today with promises of more fireworks.
