Indian team delighted - Manika, Sathiyan, Kamal, Sreeja qualify for WTTC

ITTF World Table Tennis Championship are scheduled to happen in May 2023 in Durban, South Africa. The event will take place between 20th May 2023 to 28th May 2023. WTTC is one of the premium events in table tennis and certainly everyone would be looking to get their hands on the trophy. For Indian table tennis fans, the great news is qualification of all top players in the tournament such as Manika Batra, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Sharath Kamal Achanta, Sreeja Akula.

Manika Batra

Manika Batra has qualified for both Singles and Mixed Doubles Category.

  • The top-ranked Indian athlete, defeated Zhu Chengzhu of Hong Kong 13-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8 in the pre-quarterfinals.
  • In mixed doubles, Manika and Sathiyan defeated Hiroto Shinozuka and Miyuu of Japan 11-9, 12-10, 11-7, 5-11, 11-7

Happy to qualify for the ITTF World Table Tennis Championship 2023 after winning at the Asia Continental stage of 2023 WTTC Finals, Doha in Singles And in Mixed Doubles

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran

Sathiyan qualified for all 3 events, ie. Men’s Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles category.

  • Singles he will quality through world ranking quote
  • In Men’s Doubles, Sathiyan and Kamal defeated Qatar pair in an easy victory of 4-0
  • In mixed doubles, Manika and Sathiyan defeated Hiroto Shinozuka and Miyuu of Japan 11-9, 12-10, 11-7, 5-11, 11-7

Sharath Kamal Achanta

Qualified for both Singles and Men’s Doubles Category in World Championships 2023.

  • In Singles category, Kamal won against Iranian opponent with a 4-1 victory.
  • In Men’s Doubles, Sathiyan and Kamal defeated Qatar pair in an easy victory of 4-0

Sreeja Akula

Sreeja Akula qualified in singles event after defeating Chen Szu-Yu of Taipei 4-3 (11-2, 5-11, 2-11, 5-11, 13-11, 11-9, 11-8) to qualify for the WTTC Finals.
