Asics Gel Rocket shoes good for table tennis?

ASICS is one the top selling brands in sports footwear, lots of runners, tennis players such as Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek use ASICS shoes. The quality of ASICS products are superb and lots of badminton players also use the ASICS shoes. I recently bought a couple of ASICS shoes(ASICS Gel Rocket 10 and ASICS Dedicate 7) and used them to play table tennis as well. In this review I will share my experience with ASICS Gel Rocket 10, which I feel is by far a superior product for table tennis as well.

My first impression after wearing this shoes was “Nice and comfortable”. For me, this is really important that the shoe is really comfortable on toe. Table Tennis requires lot of small sidewise movement and this shoe certainly helps with that.

Review as a table tennis player

After using for a week, I felt a lot of positive about this shoes. Below are the positives about this shoes -

• Comfortable - This is one of the biggest reason I liked this shoes, it’s just great. I like the fit and comfort of the shoes and personally my legs didn’t feel tired playing for almost two hours!
• Impact - This shoes is build with Breathable GEL mesh, which is ASICS technology. The benefit of this is you can make abrupt movement in a fast paced table tennis game and even then your leg will land perfectly at the spots. It’s sort of magic but that’s the quality this shoes offers.
• Footwork - The ease of movement with this shoes is awesome and you can definitely move easily on your toes, I felt comfortable while playing with these shoes.
• Look and Feel - I personally like the look of these pair of shoes as these just stand out from rest of the shoes. Asics has certainly created a beautiful pair of shoes.

If I compare these with my older butterfly shoes, they were lighter than the ASICS Gel Rocket but they were certainly not of this high quality. Personally to me, the weight didn’t even bother me while playing and I believe this is something ASICS have engineered with their GEL technology. The primary usecase of GEL Rocket 10 is badminton and I certainly liked this shoe for table tennis as well. Playing on wooden and synthetic courts using these shoes will outperform any other shoes. If ASICS reduce the weight of this shoes by 25-30gms, this will become the hottest product for table tennis fans.
